Great Way to Spend a Rainy Day!: February 7 Visit to Dorcas House

Yesterday a group of 19 visited Dorcas House, including 7 from UCSD's joint Episcopal/Methodist campus ministry.  The weather report threatened a full day of rain, which more or less proved true -- although we didn't really ever have to stay in the rain more than a minute or two.  The best part of dreary weather was the less than 5-minute wait re-crossing the border!

While I was initially a bit anxious about the size of our group and the need to stay dry indoors with all the kids (read: lots of people in a small space!), it worked out wonderfully.  The staff do such a great job helping us visitors spend some fun time with the kids; we played with Play-Doh, puzzles, and drew some pictures.  One of the house moms made everyone nachos -- excellent!

I'm realizing that the more often I visit, the more I'm getting "hooked" -- it really is a treat once the kids started remembering my name!
