Join us for a volunteer visit to Dorcas House in Tijuana, Mexico
The Children of Dorcas House live 20 minutes outside of San Diego, and yet their reality is a world away from our own. In the past year people from San Diego have become convinced that God is calling us to see these children as a part of our family. Will you join us for one day and let God transform your life as you serve God's children?
- The Saturday program might include time spent with the children in a programmed activity: perhaps a trip to a museum, waterpark, soccer game, or an art project. If time permits, a meal with the children, and an evening out in Tijuana's cultural district could expand your cross-cultural immersion experience.
Upcoming trips:
Sat, Feb 20
Sat, Mar 13
Sat, Apr 17
We usually meet at around noon, carpool down to the border, walk across the border and eat some tacos, play with the kids at the house or take them on a field trip for a couple hours, and return back to downtown San Diego around 5-6 pm. A valid passport is required.
Saturday, March 13, 8 am-3 pm This trip will be a bit different from our usual visit, as we're going to a new museum! The children are really excited because it has an I-Max film. We have a lot of fun, so if you've not been with us previously, this is one not to miss! We meet at St. Paul's parking lot on Olive St at 8 am; return is around 3 pm. The cost is $20 per person (includes admission to the museum-but no one is turned away for lack of funds). Valid passport required. Please reserve a spot by March 9th through Suzanne Warren at sharp.healthcare@sbcglobal.net or 619.437.8700
Please email me if you'd like me to pencil you in for a particular date, (colinmathewson@gmail.com) and Suzanne Warren, our new trip coordinator, will be in touch with details as the date approaches.
When you visit the children of Dorcas House, you return feeling blessed. Inevitably. The children's love is infectious and the experience of making a day trek to Tijuana with fellow Christians is irreplaceable. All you need is a passport and about $15 for lunch and transportation. And a lap to sit on or arms to swing from.
